WORLD PREMIERE OF POLITICAL THRILLER EXPLORED NEW ZEALAND’S ROLE IN PEACE AND WAR
The Giltrap Audi season of Rendered - the latest work by award-winning New Zealand playwright, novelist and librettist Stuart Hoar - was a highly-anticipated, taut, torn-from-the-headlines thriller.
Premiering at the ASB Waterfront Theatre in 2018, Rendered is set in two locations - the Middle Eastern desert and New Zealand. In the Middle East, Major Aria and her mercenary accomplice are on a covert mission to meet a New Zealander who’s defected to ISIS with his Arab wife. Back home, at the Auckland Writers Festival, kindergarten teacher Miranda gets an offer she can’t refuse from a charming American visitor. Soon, these six characters, their lives and histories are inextricably entwined in web of intrigue, danger and espionage.
This exciting new piece of New Zealand theatre, starring Anna Jullienne and Fasitua Amosa, and Directed by Katie Wolfe, was programmed especially for September, in celebration and support of the inaugural New Zealand Theatre Month.
