Festive end to 2020 with Home Alone in Concert
AUCKLAND PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA CELEBRATES THE END OF 2020 WITH CHRISTMAS CLASSIC FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
“Will you please tell Santa that instead of presents this year, I just want my family back?”
It’s hard to believe that the Macaulay Culkin classic film, Home Alone, ticks over its 30th anniversary this year. In celebration, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) will present this delightfully festive film with live orchestra accompaniment the weekend before Christmas descends.
KBB Music presents Home Alone in Concert in association with Coast FM, on Saturday 19 December.
Kevin McCallister is an eight-year-old boy who’s accidentally left behind when his family leaves for their Christmas vacation. As his house becomes the target of two bungling thieves (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) trying to make a buck while the family’s away, Kevin must do what he can to defend his territory.
A holiday favourite, this beloved comedy classic features renowned composer John Williams’ charming and delightful score which will be performed live with the movie by the APO.
Also starring Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek) and John Candy, when it was released in 1990 Home Alone was nominated for two Academy Awards - Best Original Score and Best Original Song (‘Somewhere in My Memory’).
Hilarious and heart-warming, Home Alone in Concert with the APO offers a brilliant way to kick back and enjoy the power and range of a full symphonic orchestra. Take a breather from the Christmas rush and reward yourself with a few laughs at the end of a very tough year
